Stigma is a discrimination that comes from other people that can causes us to have mental illness and mental conditions. Why do we need to stop it? Simply because it will not be good for us especially for the people who are experiencing problems. We need to reduce stigma for us because it has negative effects that can lead to depression. There are ways on how we can stop stigma.

According to Sukhera (2021), every year in Canada they are having talks and sharing stories that they experienced on social stigma. It already states the tragic story of David Pontone that has a video in the hospital of people who are crawling. After disclosing his history of bipolar disorder he wondered why they can’t get the attention that they deserve. There are stories that are similar in the experience of Pontone that they can’t also get the help they need when they are asking for help.

People are basing their futures in numbers for example “2021 will be a much better year than 2020” because they believe that in number 2021 they will have new hope in life. They should need to end their stigma about numbers because it can affect their lives; they will be stressed and get frustrated once they do not get the number as an expiration date. (Pereira, 2021)

Here in the Philippines, people are also experiencing stigma from their fellow Filipinos. According to Coconuts Manila (2021), Liza Soberano, popular actress here in Philippines, complains about the poster of the movie named “Tililing” because of the facial expressions of the actors and actresses. Liza said that movie will spread awareness about mental health and she says that mental health is not a joke.
